In recent hours, news has spread on social media platforms claiming that a drug smuggling network in the Shatila camp has resumed its usual operations, after a period of suspension due to previous security operations.
However, informed sources confirmed to that “what is being circulated is inaccurate,” explaining that these rumors appeared due to limited security movements the camp witnessed recently, but they do not indicate in any way that the drug trade has resumed its activity inside the camp.
It also indicated that “a security campaign is expected to be launched in the coming days in the Burj al-Barajneh camp, as part of the ongoing efforts to combat drugs and apprehend wanted individuals, within the framework of the existing cooperation between the security services and the Palestinian factions to maintain security inside the camps.”
