This agreement was announced during an official visit by Eng. Hassan Al-Khatib, the Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, to Turkey, where he held a series of meetings in Istanbul aimed at strengthening investment and trade cooperation.
The Egyptian minister participated in the 41st session of the meeting of trade ministers of the “COMCEC” (Standing Committee for Commercial and Economic Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation), which was held in Istanbul and witnessed a remarkable presence of ministers and economic officials from various member states.
During his meeting with Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, the two sides discussed mechanisms to support cooperation in the fields of industry, energy, and maritime transport, and pointed out that the trade volume in the first half of 2025 reached about $4 billion, including $2 billion in Egyptian exports, which confirms the strength of trade relations and the opportunities available for joint growth.
Minister Al-Khatib also met with the heads of a number of major Turkish textile and clothing companies, at a meeting organized by the Egyptian-Turkish Joint Business Council, where he gave a detailed presentation of the investment opportunities available in Egypt, especially in the industrial sectors that achieve high added value.
A number of officials from Turkish companies already investing in the Egyptian market expressed their aspiration to expand their activities within Egypt, which will contribute to the development of production lines, increase operational capacity, and provide thousands of new job opportunities, in addition to strengthening industrial integration and joint supply chains between the two countries.
For his part, Minister Al-Khatib praised “the confidence of Turkish investors in the Egyptian economy,” stressing the Egyptian government’s commitment to providing the necessary facilities and creating a stimulating investment environment that supports exports, transfers modern technology, and provides sustainable job opportunities.
Analysts believe that this step comes within the framework of a comprehensive Egyptian-Turkish vision to rebuild trust and activate regional economic partnership, in light of the marked improvement in political and diplomatic relations between the two countries in recent years.
