Authorities stated that the accused, an 18-year-old from the Kremenchuk area, planted a hidden camera on a local railway line. They added that this remotely controlled camera allowed Russian elements to monitor the movements of military freight trains and estimate the size of military equipment heading to the front lines.
Authorities also reported that the young man also sought to identify the locations of air defense systems in the region, and was tasked with sending photos, accompanied by accurate data identifying geographic locations, to Russian intelligence agencies.
The Security Service of Ukraine explained that Russian intelligence recruited the young man via Telegram after promising him easy money, and indicated that he would be brought to trial on charges related to “treason and espionage in favor of a hostile power.”
