“During Takht-Ravanchi’s visit to the Sultanate of Oman, no message was conveyed to him from the American side,” said “Ismail Baghaei,” the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, during his weekly press conference on Monday, adding that “the continued efforts and attempts by intermediaries to bridge viewpoints are normal and common in such files.”
“Baghaei” clarified that there is indeed an indirect exchange of messages between Tehran and Washington, but he affirmed that “this does not mean in any way the start of a formal negotiation process between the two countries.”
“Mohajerani” stated on Sunday that the Foreign Ministry had received messages calling for the resumption of nuclear talks, indicating that the Iranian government is studying the content of these calls in coordination with the relevant authorities.
Her statements came after the Omani Foreign Minister, “Badr Al-Busaidi,” affirmed during his participation in the Manama Dialogue conference held in Bahrain last Saturday that Muscat hopes to see new negotiations between Iran and the United States, explaining that his country “hosted five rounds of talks between the two sides this year.”
“Al-Busaidi” revealed that “the sixth round, which could have been decisive, was canceled just three days before its scheduled date, after Israel launched its bombs and missiles in an illegal and deadly act of sabotage,” according to Agence France-Presse.
It is worth noting that Iran and the United States held five rounds of indirect talks on the nuclear file during the current year, and the sixth round was scheduled to be held last June, but the 12-day Israeli war broke out, targeting military and nuclear sites inside Iran, and leading to the assassination of dozens of nuclear scientists, which halted the negotiation track at that time.
