Netanyahu stated during his meeting with the commander of the US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, General Patrick Frank, and a number of senior Israeli military officials, that “The first component of the plan is security, that is, security responsibility for protecting our forces and ensuring our freedom of action. This is acceptable, and we are also doing it.”
The Israeli Prime Minister explained that the goal agreed upon with US President Donald Trump is to “dismantle Hamas’s weapons and disarm Gaza,” noting that the implementation of this plan “is carried out in stages and with the participation of other elements of joint cooperation.”
Netanyahu also spoke about the past successes achieved by military and security cooperation between Israel and the United States, saying: “We have already accomplished things that have amazed the world — whether in Iran or in freeing our living prisoners,” expressing his aspirations to achieve the current goals “in the easy way,” in reference to what he called “the approach preferred by President Trump.”
These statements come amid ongoing indirect negotiations between Washington and Tel Aviv regarding arrangements related to the post-ceasefire phase in the Gaza Strip, amid pressure exerted by the United States to accelerate the implementation of the reconstruction plan, along with providing security guarantees to Israel to ensure that Palestinian factions are prevented from rearming.
