Engineer Tarek Mezherkani, the General Coordinator of the “Gathering of Sons of Southern Border Towns,” met with Mr. Al-Baqer Adam, Head of the Civil Affairs Section in the “UNIFIL” forces, at the international forces’ headquarters in Naqoura.

Mezherkani stated that he had handed Adam a letter addressed to Major General Diódato Apane, Commander of the “UNIFIL” forces, detailing the direct Israeli threats he had received, which had significantly affected his personal security and the course of his life and the lives of his family members, and had caused “his separation from his family and disruption of his professional work.”

He also clarified that he works as an architect and civil activist, and that he does not engage in any activity of a security, political, or military nature, and that his interest through the gathering is mainly focused on addressing the humanitarian and livelihood issues of the local population and the displaced from the border villages.

Mezherkani pointed out that in his letter, he requested the “UNIFIL” forces to take the necessary intervention and take the necessary measures to provide protection for him and his family, allowing them to return to their normal lives.

He added that the head of the Civil Affairs Section in UNIFIL showed remarkable interest in the issue, explaining that the international forces are primarily concerned with the safety of groups and not individuals, but he also confirmed that he would raise the contents of the letter to the United Nations leadership in New York for consideration and to take appropriate action.
