MP Ihab Hamadeh, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, affirmed that the goal of the demands to amend the election law is to exclude Lebanese residents from effective participation in the electoral process.
He explained that this measure aims to make way for the voices of expatriates, which are being exploited, as he put it, “under the title of a word of truth intended for falsehood to create a breach in the cohesive body of the resistance environment.”
During a speech he delivered at the Imam Hussein Mosque – Hermel, in the commemoration ceremony for the first anniversary of the martyrdom of Muhammad Yasser Samir Al-Qabbout, Hamadeh stated that: “What some aim at in their project is to install an authority of presidents of the republic, a parliament, and a government… and complete the project in our isolation and accomplish what they want at the level of the structure called Lebanon, to be annexed to the Israeli mess.”
He added: “The real background to all of this project is what the enemy’s prime minister announced about Greater Israel, and Lebanon and other Arab countries are part of this project.”
Hamadeh pointed out that “our body has become stronger and more cohesive after all that has been practiced against us in terms of enticement, intimidation, and attempts to create disruption in it.”
He pointed out that the only way available to those who seek to penetrate this body is to marginalize the voices of Lebanese residents and replace them with the voices of expatriates, explaining that despite the right of expatriates to vote, the authorities or administrations of the countries in which they reside have the ability to direct and control these voices.
He concluded his speech by emphasizing that these authorities and administrations are capable of adding thousands of votes at the level of 128 deputies, with a focus on creating the breakthrough that serves their interests, under a democratic cover and without any oversight.
