The Minister of Justice, Adel Nassar, affirmed at the opening of the regional conference on international judicial cooperation in combating terrorism that Lebanon, after regaining its sovereignty, aspires to establish a strong state that will be the impregnable fortress in the face of terrorism.

Nassar stressed that the basis for combating terrorism lies in holding all perpetrators accountable, regardless of their identity, noting that Lebanon has faced many challenges, but today it is recovering thanks to the efforts of the President of the Republic, the government, and all officials, which helps to revitalize institutions and enhance Lebanon’s role in international judicial cooperation.

The minister clarified the importance of combining regional and global efforts to confront the terrorist dangers that transcend borders, by developing mechanisms for judicial coordination and information exchange, with the aim of achieving justice and protecting security and stability in the region.

Nassar added:

“We have witnessed many terrorist operations, and with the development of this scourge, the cells have grown, which makes the confrontation more difficult in the absence of international coordination and an independent judiciary.”

He pointed out that the Ministry of Justice has reopened cases of terrorist assassinations within the framework of justice and accountability.

In conclusion, he affirmed that Lebanon will face terrorism with civilization, law, and justice, stressing that the best response to violence is to strengthen the state of institutions and preserve human rights.
