After Israeli Prime Minister “Benjamin Netanyahu” threatened to respond to what he described as “Hamas’s” “violations” of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, a high-level Israeli source revealed that the meeting held by “Netanyahu” with security services on Tuesday afternoon ended without any immediate decision being taken.
The source said: “Netanyahu’s meeting ended without a decision on how to respond to Hamas.”
“Netanyahu” also stressed the importance of coordination with the United States to determine future steps in the Palestinian sector.
Regarding potential measures, the source stated that the Israeli army presented a range of options that included resuming attacks on Gaza.
Israeli sources had previously indicated that America had agreed to an Israeli proposal allowing the expansion of the “Yellow Line,” which are the areas from which Israeli forces recently withdrew under the agreement in Gaza.
“Netanyahu” had accused “Hamas” of violating the ceasefire agreement, explaining that the movement handed over remains that were allegedly “the body of a hostage whose remains were previously found by the Israeli army.”
He added that he would discuss with the security establishment how the government would respond to these violations.
For its part, “Hamas” affirmed that the task of reaching the sites of the bodies is a “complex operation” due to the rubble and massive destruction that befell the sector after two years of war.
The movement stressed that “all those who buried the bodies of Israelis in Gaza in the past were killed during Israeli raids.”
It is worth noting that Israel announced yesterday evening that it had received the remains of a new Israeli prisoner via Red Cross teams, and thus “Hamas” has released 20 live Israeli prisoners and the remains of 17 prisoners out of 28 since the beginning of the agreement.
But after the recent announcement that one of the bodies handed over was old, and that one of the bodies did not match any of its prisoners, the number of bodies handed over became 15, while there are still 13 missing.
