Lebanon Today

The visit of Egyptian Intelligence Director Hassan Rashad to Lebanon carries multiple implications, most notably Egypt’s active role in the region, which is currently focused on the Gaza Strip. Informed sources expect Rashad to convey an initiative to the three presidents amidst a regional climate of concern about Lebanon’s future, especially if the ceasefire agreement fails and the issue of “exclusive possession of weapons” by the legitimate international authority falters.

Informed sources convey what is being circulated in regional and international diplomatic circles to what is happening, which has become known to the Lebanese political forces, namely that Lebanon is facing a crucial turning point between stability and the unknown, which may include escalation at various financial, economic, and military levels, or even a comprehensive Israeli war.

In this context, informed sources point to a potential Egyptian role in Lebanon, similar to the role Egypt is playing in Gaza, which effectively contributed to arranging a ceasefire agreement and implementing its phases, especially regarding convincing Hamas to adhere to President Donald Trump’s plan, after two years of aggression, genocide, and starvation suffered by the residents of Gaza as a result of the Israeli aggression.

Despite the difficulty in predicting the ideas and proposals that the Egyptian envoy will carry, informed sources confirm that the Egyptian proposal will include the Arab and American positions towards the Lebanese situation, and ways to find solutions to the current crisis through diplomatic channels, in order to avoid any military solutions that may lead to a wide-scale explosion that serves the Israeli agenda in the region.
