A divine mass was held at the Church of Mar Antonios the Great – Soudico, at the kind invitation of the National Liberal Party, commemorating the thirty-fifth anniversary of the martyrdom of “Dani Chamoun” and his family, and praying to God to have mercy on their souls and the souls of the martyrs of the Tigers of the Free.

The mass witnessed a remarkable presence of prominent official and political figures, headed by the honorary president of the party, “Dory Camille Chamoun”, the party president, MP “Camille Chamoun”, and members of the deceased’s family. Also present were Minister “Joe Issa al-Khoury”, MP “Jihad Pakradouni” representing the head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Dr. “Samir Geagea”, MP “Salim Al-Sayegh” representing the head of the Lebanese Phalange Party, Sheikh “Sami Gemayel”, MPs “Alan Aoun” and “Farid Al-Bustani”, MP “Raji Al-Saad”, MP “Neemat Efram”, Brigadier General “Sami Nassif” representing the Minister of Interior “Ahmed Al-Hajjar”, and lawyer “Shadi Al-Bustani” representing the Minister of Information, Dr. “Paul Murqos”, in addition to the representative of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a number of former ministers and deputies, along with prominent party figures and social activists, and members of the Supreme Council of the party.

At the end of the occasion, the head of the party, MP “Camille Chamoun”, delivered a moving speech, in which he recalled the leader “Dani Chamoun”, saying: “On this occasion, we remember the leader Dani Chamoun, who was more than a friend or uncle, he was a pioneer and an example of the bright future of Lebanon. Dani had a presidential project that reflected our vision, where he presented a program dealing with federalism to build a society that allows coexistence on clear and sound foundations.”

He continued: “We have adopted this project, as there is no salvation for Lebanon except by adopting it, as it protects minorities and guarantees every group to live in freedom and dignity. Dani made Lebanon the pearl of the East, and we used to be proud of the Lebanese passport, unlike today where some are classified unjustly.”

He added: “We deserve the best, and we call on all Lebanese actors to commit and join forces to build a strong country in which our children can live with their heads held high. It is time for us to unite and achieve the Lebanon that Dani Chamoun dreamed of.”

He added: “We will not forget Dani, his companions, and the 10,452 square kilometers for which they struggled, and the 4,000 martyrs of the Tigers of the Free who sacrificed themselves so that our free opinion would remain sovereign in this country.”

In the context of his speech, he pointed out that “we have a parliamentary electoral entitlement soon, so think carefully about choosing representatives who feel for you and do not steal your rights, so that we can get out of this nightmare and build a new country.”

He concluded his speech by saying: “We must take advantage of this reality to achieve peace in the region, and return to live our dreams and embody the vision of Dani Chamoun. Long live you, and long live Lebanon!”
