Lebanon Today
Yesterday, media outlets circulated news about a possible cancellation of Pope Leo XIV’s upcoming visit to Lebanon. Those reports linked this potential cancellation to claims about Israel’s imminent launch of a large-scale military operation on Lebanese territory. This news quickly sparked widespread concern and many questions about its accuracy and credibility.
However, well-informed church sources stated to categorically denying these rumors and circulating news. The sources categorically confirmed that “there is absolutely no truth to what is being rumored; the visit is on schedule, and preparations are underway to ensure its success.”
The sources also stressed that “talk of canceling the visit due to alleged preparations for an expanded Israeli strike on Lebanon is baseless and meaningless,” expressing surprise at “the insistence of some on promoting inaccurate news that causes confusion at this delicate time.”
The sources confirmed that “preparations are continuing for the Pope’s visit,” noting that “everyone’s goal is to ensure a successful visit that enshrines the message of peace and hope that the Pope carries to the Lebanese.”
