Lebanon Today

The Amal Movement, Qanarit Division, commemorated the anniversary of the martyrs of the Lebanese Resistance Brigades Amal, with a large celebration held in the town’s Hussainiya, attended by the Director of the Office of President Nabih Berri: MP Hani Qobaisi, MP Ali Osseiran, in addition to personalities and citizens.

On behalf of the movement, MP Hani Qobaisi delivered a moving speech, in which he said: “Today we honor a constellation of martyrs who died in the cause of God, fighting on the frontiers of the nation, offering themselves as sacrifices for freedom, sovereignty, and independence. We say to the whole world: We are proud of what we have offered in terms of martyrs, for we have taught the entire nation lessons in defending homelands, sovereignty, and freedom, at a time when we are facing a fierce attack targeting the resistance, its message, and its approach.”

Qobaisi continued, saying: “The resistance that offered thousands of martyrs until we reached the liberation of our land, which was watered by the blood of martyrs from all national forces and parties that fought the enemy. In these days, unfortunately, there are still those who do not care about all the sacrifices made by the resistance in terms of sacrifices and martyrs. We feel that all the external conspiracies that are issued to our country through envoys and negotiators who dictate conditions on matters related to the state and its revival, and the presence of weapons and their existence, and regarding the resistance, its history, its present, and all that it has offered, they are setting conditions for surrender in Lebanon, as they tried to set them in Gaza.”

Then he added: “Part of the Lebanese people are raising the same slogans and following the same approach, as if they are not Lebanese. The positions that are being created these days, which are related to internal political tracks, constitute a siege on the south, in addition to the daily Israeli attacks. There is an internal siege from some Lebanese parties through their positions and their pursuit of gains at the level of positions and others, whether through electoral entitlement or otherwise.”

He continued his speech: “They are seeking to form an internal siege in addition to external threats, and this is something we completely reject. Israeli slogans cannot be repeated in our country on the tongues of some Lebanese leaders and politicians. Israel is demanding the withdrawal of weapons, and some Lebanese are demanding their withdrawal, a single slogan that is shameful for an enemy and a friend to carry.”

Qobaisi explained that “our problem is not with the strength of Israel, but with the weakness of some Lebanese and their abandonment of their cause, their homeland, and their message, and therefore the defense of the south and the failure to adhere to the sovereignty of the state. Sovereignty begins through the martyrs, sovereignty begins from the border strip with occupied Palestine. Unfortunately, we feel that there is an internal movement that constitutes a siege on the political approach of the resistance. Every day we hear new slogans through changing entitlements and laws through which they want to seek control over state institutions to say that we have no relationship with the resistance and its weapons. Everyone is present in the institutions, parliamentary blocs, and the government, and therefore through their proposal to change the election law, they claim their concern for the expatriate and his vote.”

He stressed that “they want to change the law not out of concern for the expatriate, but it is a race to obtain a greater number of votes in order to form a majority in the parliament and the government to stand against the resistance, its policies, and its sacrifices, and say that this country must go to other understandings.”

At the end of his speech, Qobaisi stated: “Israel is pressing through its attacks in order for Lebanon to go to direct negotiations, and President Berri said: There is no place for this directly with the enemy, but through a committee that has been formed. If Israel is pressing in order to enshrine its language and policies on our country, why is this internal revolution against the people of the resistance and its approach and message? Is it harmony or a conflict of interest? Both of them have a problem that does not respect the sovereignty of the country and does not respect nationalism. What is required is a free and correct position from all the poles of politics in Lebanon to form a real unity through which we can confront the Zionist enemy and not to confront each other.”
