A military source stated that army forces carried out a swift and successful operation to monitor and arrest a group of individuals, as part of their efforts to thwart an attempt to smuggle weapons on the summit of Mount Hermon inside Syrian territory.

The source reported that the operation was carried out at night with the participation of forces from the Mountains Brigade (810) and elements from Unit 504. The operation resulted in the arrest of a number of suspects who were about to smuggle combat equipment from Syrian territory to Lebanese territory, specifically in the Mount Hermon summit area.

The source also explained that the forces monitored suspicious movements during the operation, which prompted their swift intervention to arrest the suspects and confiscate the weapons they possessed. He pointed out that the detainees were transferred to the competent authorities to complete the necessary investigations.

The source concluded his statement by emphasizing that the army forces continue to be deployed in the area with the aim of “protecting the security of Israeli citizens, especially the residents of the Golan Heights.”
