Samsung has officially announced its new smart glasses, which are the first virtual reality glasses to operate on the “Android XR” system that combines virtual and augmented reality.

The new “Galaxy XR” from Samsung is a virtual reality headset that relies on an advanced “Android” system and competes with the “Apple Vision Pro” in terms of technology. The glasses allow users to easily switch between full immersion in virtual reality and transparency mode, allowing them to stay connected to their real surroundings. The user can also interact with content using voice, gestures, and even eye gaze.

Since the glasses’ system is based on “Android,” which is familiar to billions of users, “Galaxy XR” owners will have direct access to the “Google Play” app store. In addition, basic “Google” services have been completely redesigned to fit the “XR” experience, including “Google Maps,” “YouTube,” “Google Voice Recordings,” and the “Chrome” browser, as well as dozens of immersive applications from industry leaders, from streaming giants “HBO Max” and “Peacock” to game studios and creative platforms like “Adobe.”

One of the most prominent features of these glasses is the deep integration with the “Gemini” smart assistant powered by artificial intelligence. Through the glasses, the assistant not only executes commands but also understands the context of what is happening around the user, and the user can obtain information related to various fields through it.

These glasses can also be used to watch videos and movies, appearing to the user as if they are watching them on a giant cinema screen. “YouTube” offers a vast library of 180 and 350-degree videos, as well as support for “Google TV” services, through which various movies can be watched. It can be used with “Google Photos” services to convert 2D photos and videos into 3D photos and videos.
