In a new development in the political crisis in the United States, the US Senate failed today, Thursday, to pass a bill proposed by the Republicans, which aimed to end the ongoing government shutdown in the country. This is the twelfth failure of its kind in this endeavor.

The proposal was unable to achieve the required legal quorum, which is obtaining sixty votes, which means that American government institutions will remain disrupted, according to the Russian agency “Sputnik.”

In a related context, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, stated last Wednesday that the current government shutdown is the second longest shutdown the United States has witnessed in its history, holding the Democrats responsible for exacerbating this crisis.

The American President, Donald Trump, had announced last Saturday that the partial shutdown of the American government would continue, and clarified that the Republican Party has no intention of paying “$1.5 trillion” to illegal immigrants.
