
The President of the Lebanese University, Dr. Bassam Badran, issued an important decision regarding the Faculty of Law, against the backdrop of what was rumored about grade falsification.
The text of the decision issued by the President of the Lebanese University stated the following:
“Based on Decree No. 8415 dated 10/22/2021 (Appointment of the President of the Lebanese University),” and “Based on Law No. 67/75 dated 12/26/1967 and its amendments (Law Regulating the Lebanese University),” and “Based on Decision No. 280 dated 3/8/2024 appointing branch managers in units of the Lebanese University,” and also “Based on the ongoing investigations at the Faculty of Law, Political and Administrative Sciences – Branch 1 regarding the suspicion of tampering with and signing exam papers.”
In addition, the decision relied on “the request submitted by Dr. Mujtaba Murtada to be temporarily relieved of his duties as Director of the Faculty of Law, Political and Administrative Sciences – Branch 1 and registered in the central administration under No. 7205 dated 10/9/2025,” and finally, for the necessities of public interest.
Based on the foregoing, the following has been decided:
Article One: “Dr. Mujtaba Bashir Murtada is relieved, at his request, of his duties as Director of the Faculty of Law, Political and Administrative Sciences, Branch 1, until the results of the administrative investigations are issued.”
Article Two: “Dr. Samer Maher Abdullah is assigned the duties of Director of the Faculty of Law, Political and Administrative Sciences, Branch 1, in addition to his other duties.”
Article Three: “This decision shall be communicated wherever needed and shall be implemented from the date of its issuance.”
