ملايين الأمريكيين يتظاهرون ضد ترامب بشعار “ضد الاستبداد”

The United States witnessed massive demonstrations yesterday, Saturday, as protesters gathered across the country to express their rejection of President Donald Trump’s policies. These demonstrations were organized by the “No Kings” movement, which sees Trump’s policies as a move towards “authoritarianism.”

The organizers of the demonstrations stated that approximately seven million people participated in peaceful events in about 2,700 cities and towns. This number represents a significant increase compared to previous protests that took place in June.

Many participants in the demonstrations expressed their fear that American democracy is in danger, less than nine months after the start of Trump’s second presidential term. Protesters carried banners with various slogans such as “No king.. No one is above the law” and “Democracy not dictatorship.”

The New York Police Department recorded the participation of about 100,000 people in various demonstrations that took place throughout the city. The police confirmed that no riots or arrests occurred during these events.

A volunteer in Times Square, speaking to a correspondent for the German News Agency (DPA), indicated that the crowds stretched along the street heading south to Union Square, a distance estimated at several kilometers.

In addition to New York, other cities such as Washington, D.C., Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, and many other cities witnessed similar demonstrations. In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, thousands took to the streets to express their opinions.

The demonstrations were not limited to major cities, but also included smaller towns such as Bethesda in the Washington area and Sarasota County in Florida.

Trump: I am not a king

CNN reported that a woman was detained in South Carolina after pointing a weapon at protesters while driving her car.

The “No Kings” movement’s website stated that the Trump administration is sending “masked agents” into American streets, with the aim of intimidating communities and arresting individuals without warrants.

The movement also accuses the President of endangering elections, undermining measures related to health and environmental protection, and allowing billionaires to profit while many families suffer from high living costs.

The movement added on its website that “The President thinks his rule is absolute, but in America, we have no kings.”

For his part, Trump and his Republican party deny these accusations. In a statement to Fox News on Friday, Trump said: “They say they are referring to me as the king… I am not a king.”

Statistics from the Harvard University Union indicate that protests have increased significantly during Trump’s second presidential term, compared to the first term.

In mid-June, several million people participated in “No Kings” demonstrations, making it one of the largest mass protests in US history.
