Flights Suspended at Dhaka International Airport Due to Massive Fire in Cargo Hall, Four Minor Injuries Reported. Firefighters are Battling to Control the Blaze and Some Flights are Being Diverted.
Authorities in Bangladesh announced a major fire today, Saturday, in the cargo area of Dhaka International Airport, the country’s main airport, leading to the suspension of all flights as a precautionary measure.
A health sector official confirmed that at least four people were taken to hospital for treatment after suffering minor injuries as a result of the fire.
Despite the dense smoke rising above the runway, the airport’s main building was not affected by any damage. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The spokesperson for the fire department explained that 37 firefighting teams are currently working to extinguish the fire that broke out this afternoon. The situation has necessitated the dispatch of additional reinforcements from the security forces to assist in control efforts.
As a result of the suspension of flights, the Bangladeshi airline “Biman” diverted four flights bound for Dhaka to alternative airports in Sylhet and Chattogram.
