The Egyptian General Authority for Health Care revealed that it has achieved a qualitative leap in advanced endoscopy services at the Suez Medical Complex, through the introduction of artificial intelligence techniques in colonoscopy, which allows early identification of small tumors and their treatment with extreme accuracy.
The Presidency of the Egyptian Council of Ministers stated, in a statement, on Thursday, that this comes within the activities of the Scientific Day for the Digestive System, which was launched by the Authority at the Suez Medical Complex.
The Public Authority for Health Care explained, in the statement, that during the scientific day for the digestive system, a package of successful operations were completed in incising the esophageal muscle to treat cases of achalasia, removing bile duct stones and installing stents, in addition to using ultrasound endoscopes to take accurate samples from the pancreas, which reflects the extent of development in the digestive system services provided at the complex.
Ahmed Al-Sobki, head of the Health Care Authority, said that the use of artificial intelligence in colonoscopies at the Suez Medical Complex puts the governorate in an advanced position on the map of modern medicine, pointing out the authority’s constant endeavor to develop the latest medical systems in accordance with the latest global developments, in a way that enhances the efficiency of health services and supports the achievement of its goals of providing all medical and treatment packages for all citizens under the umbrella of comprehensive health coverage, each in his governorate.
He noted that the Suez Medical Complex is considered one of the largest medical edifices affiliated with the authority, as it obtained the national accreditation degree from the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Regulatory (GAHAR), which is internationally recognized by the ESCWA organization, which confirms its commitment to the highest standards of quality and patient safety and qualifies it to be a reference center for advanced specialized care.
He added that the complex is the first smart digital hospital affiliated with the Healthcare Authority that operates with fifth generation (5G) technology, ensuring operational efficiency, accuracy and safety in providing medical and therapeutic services in the complex, pointing out that the complex has so far provided more than a million medical and therapeutic services in accordance with the highest international standards.
Al-Sobki stressed that the introduction of modern technologies represents part of the authority’s strategy to enhance health security in the governorates by implementing comprehensive health insurance, noting that these achievements could not have been achieved without the availability of qualified medical and nursing staff at the highest level, as an elite group of senior professors and consultants at the Suez Medical Complex participated in the operations.
