Lavrov said, in response to a question about whether Putin and Shara had touched on the issue of Russian military bases: “Everything was discussed,” according to what the Russian “Sputnik” news agency reported.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov had announced earlier that the issue of Russian military bases in Syria is expected to be raised during the Putin-Sharaa talks.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also confirmed, earlier Wednesday, that Russia and Syria have had a special relationship over many decades, noting that Russia’s relations with Syria have always been guided by the interests of the Syrian people.
