Ezzedine followed the implementation of the flexible work law: an important step to empower women economically
The Chair of the Parliamentary Women and Children Committee, Representative Dr. Inaya Ezzedine, chaired a meeting in the House of Representatives that included the Director General of the National Social Security Fund, Dr. Mohamed Karaki, and representatives of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the United Nations Women, to follow up on the necessary procedures to activate the provisions of the flexible work law that was approved in May 2025 after amending the Lebanese Labor Law.

Representative Ezz El-Din stressed that the law constitutes an important step to empower women economically and enhance decent work standards, noting that the meeting focuses on regulating forms of flexible work such as: remote work, part-time work, moving from full-time to part-time, and seasonal work, within the framework of promoting gender equality and achieving balance between professional and family life.

Ezzedine pointed out that the initiative comes as part of a series of efforts in cooperation with ESCWA to remove obstacles that hinder women’s participation in the labor market, calling on the government and private sectors and civil society to coordinate to ensure that the legislative text is transformed into a tangible reality in work environments.

The meeting included discussing the preparation of studies to evaluate the cost and mechanisms for implementing flexible work in various sectors, and enhancing coordination and follow-up to ensure employers’ compliance with the law, while involving civil society organizations and the media to raise awareness of its impact on promoting justice and equality.

Participants emphasized that the flexible labor law enhances organizational flexibility and increases employment opportunities within legal frameworks that guarantee social protection for all production parties.
