The head of the Union of Workers in the Cellular and Telecommunications Sector, Paul Zeitoun, was surprised by the mismanagement of the sector and the decline in the quality of Internet service, considering that the situation represents a blatant violation of the basic rights of the Lebanese.
Zaitoun said: “The daily outages and deteriorating network services reflect a systemic failure, while the concerned authorities are silent and ignore the citizens.”
He called for the opening of a transparent parliamentary investigation into the performance of the Ministry of Communications and the two operating companies, warning of escalatory moves if this deterioration continues, stressing that the right of citizens to a respectable telecommunications service is non-negotiable.
