The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received at Baabda Palace this afternoon, four newly appointed Lebanese ambassadors abroad under diplomatic formations: Milad Raad (China), Dima Haddad (Armenia), Jean Murad (Cyprus) and Youssef Jabr (Serbia).

President Aoun provided the new ambassadors with his directives, stressing “the necessity of caring for the interests of the Lebanese in the countries where they are accredited, paying attention to their needs, and working to strengthen relations between Lebanon and these countries,” wishing them “success in their new tasks.”

President Aoun received the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of the South Lebanon Water Corporation, Dr. Wassim Daher, who briefed him on the repairs carried out by the Corporation on water stations and networks that were damaged or destroyed as a result of the Israeli aggression against the south, including the Wazzani station, which was repaired and water was pumped back into it.

Dr. Daher indicated that “work will soon begin to repair the bus station after securing the necessary funding for it,” pointing out “the Israeli harassment to which the corporation’s workers are exposed during their work, especially in the villages and towns adjacent to the areas that Israel still occupies.”

President Aoun also received the head of the National Network for the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), former MP Dima Jamali, and the head of the Balsamat Association, Amal Suleiman.

During the meeting, Jamali briefed President Aoun on the network’s activities in promoting sustainability practices in the private sector and its role in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS). He was invited to participate in the conference scheduled to be held next December to launch the new road map for the network, which will bring together under one roof United Nations agencies, the private sector, international financing institutions, donors, the Lebanese diaspora, and the public sector.

Suleiman briefed President Aoun on the festival organized by the “Balsmat” Association at the Beirut Hippodrome on October 15, entitled “Kayle,” which includes sports, cultural, social, humanitarian, charitable, and artistic stations, and will present development and health projects that Lebanon needs at the present time.
